Robert, are we talking about the Security Group for SQL services? No, none of those groups, either the prior existing groups for the currently running instance of SQL, nor the ones created by the install routine, contain the server name, that is the computer name, they do contain the correct SQL instance name. It will be a bit before an opportunity to try the install again. UAC was set at the default level to Notify. Does anyone have any info on this error, a possible cause and solution, or a source where I might find this information? I don't know SQL, and if the vendor can't, or won't, fix it, it's a safe bet I won't be able to. This server is only a few months old, and the only SQL activity has been installed by the vendor for the business app. One or two other threads I found died with no resolution.
